Education is undoubtedly the most powerful tool available to humankind. It reaches all citizens. Our beliefs, our behaviours our capacities are intended to be influenced by education, and they most certainly are. Not only does it affect the lives of all students, but it has already affected the lives of their parents and their grandparents before that. So family has been influenced too.
On one hand, science is discovering what age old masters have been saying; that we have much greater capacity for growth and awareness than we thought. On the other hand, statistics tell us that increasingly, we have widespread physical and mental health problems - the environment is continuing to be rapidly degraded in the pursuit of economic growth—society is led by an economic model which almost daily becomes more fast paced, complex and stressful. (see The Need)
We are very clear that it is within our reach to lead more fulfilling and happy lives without destroying the environment that supports us.
However as Einstein pointed out, solutions cannot come from the same level of thinking that created the problem. It is time for us to grow into a higher level of consciousness—education is the key!
(see The Way Forward)
This is the Journey to Brilliance.
Our mission is to change education - to make it relevant to today’s emerging citizens in today’s emerging world condition so that they may become empowered to create the future they dream of rather than merely enduring the world they inherited. The first step in our plan is to create a model school, which has three primary educational goals:
- Focussing foremostly on the unlimited growth, and expression of each student’s unique self
- Engaging students fully in real-world education so they learn joyfully, rapidly and deeply
- Re-connecting students with the delights and principles of nature so they can live in tune with the life that is all around them
(see The Vision)
Through this model of education, we plan to support and guide our students to become adults who are:
- aware of their unique, true selves, their gifts and passions
- role models of healthy, experienced and engaged citizens
- hopeful, resilient, empowered and inspired
- deeply caring of others and the planet
Our first school opened in April 2009. (see Seven Oaks School)
