Past, present and future…

World Peace Game™

June 2014 | Christchurch

The World Peace Game™ is a highly interactive, hands-on political simulation. Teams grapple with complex philosophical issues, negotiating, collaborating and refining their communication skills to meet the goal of the game, world peace.

We have just hosted the first ever World Peace Game™ to be staged in New Zealand, with 20 students aged 11 and 12. The game was played over a total of 18 hours across a three-week period, facilitated by Janet Nicol, who has been trained by John Hunter. Students are raving about the game and parents have been amazed how their kids haven’t stopped talking about their learning.

If you want to find out more about the Brilliant Curriculum, come to Seven Oaks School and see it in action. The kids will give you a warm welcome – if we’re lucky, they may even cook for us – and the educators will be on hand to answer your questions and explain how each of our advanced curriculum areas works.

Navigating the teenage years

We have an exciting line-up of speakers organised for this event, which aims to help parents navigate the teen years successfully, by being aware of and understanding the impact of the physical, chemical and psychological changes that occur for young people at this time. Nathan Mikaere-Wallis of the Brainwave Trust, who specialises in human development, brain development, language and communication and risk and resilience, will chair this event.
