Bruce McIntyre

Bruce McIntyre

FOUNDER

Bruce is a visionary innovator with a passion for people and the environment. He founded Macpac at the age of 19 and remained Managing Director until its sale in 2008. Macpac was renowned internationally for its high-performance outdoor equipment, its innovative, inclusive culture and its customer loyalty. It was listed as one of Saatchi and Saatchi’s worldwide Lovemarks. Bruce is a past or current director of a number of other companies, including Barkers of Geraldine and Cactus Equipment. In 2006 he co-founded The Holistic Education Trust to lead a change in education from a limited system focus to a contemporary and holistic, humanistic focus.

Janet Nicol

FOUNDER

Janet is an experienced educator and child therapist who has always advocated the rights and wellbeing of children and young people. She particularly enjoyed outdoor education courses that gave students a good sense of self and of their potential. Working as a Special Education Advisor for the Ministry of Education led her to formulate ideas about what a truly child centred school would look like. Janet is a founding member of The Holistic Education Trust and co-founder of Seven Oaks. She is the primary architect of the self-empowerment component of the Brilliant Curriculum, which she also delivers to teachers.

Ross Petersen

FOUNDER

Ross was an economics teacher for over 25 years. He is a student of human societies, the systems we have built to create society and the needs of people within that. He sees the holistic growth of children as an imperative for our future.

Monique Ettema

Monique Ettema

BOARD MEMBER

Finding herself immersed in the challenges of guiding her children towards happy and successful adulthood, Monique developed a strong interest in the development of holistic education. Since becoming a parent at Seven Oaks, she has provided us with the benefit of her strong communication and organisational skills in supporting and chairing our Parent Group. Her background as founder and director of Montage Interactive Ltd brings additional, valuable innovation and management experience to the board.

Owen Arnst

Owen Arnst

BOARD MEMBER

Owen is an extremely capable and wise educator, with over 30 years of teaching and leadership experience in a variety of small country schools to large city schools. Currently Principal at Seven Oaks, Owen has held Principal positions since 1985 and was previously Headmaster at The Cathedral Grammar School for 10 years. He is currently completing a Doctorate in person-centred, holistic education, showing how social and emotional development and spiritual well-being can be integrated into education.
